Show Notes

Our Lord said that when the king of one country fights with another king, he should first consider whether he can meet twenty thousand soldiers with ten thousand soldiers, and if he cannot win, he should send a delegation and ask for peace before the opponent comes near. And with that He says, “So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple” (Luke 14:33). The Lord is speaking about becoming a disciple of the Lord. When a person tries to do something by his own strength, he keeps getting caught in snares and it is hard. In fact, emptying oneself is more important than a person having some will. It means that rather than saying that one can do something, it is right to empty oneself and live the life of faith relying on God.
